Billed by its makers as graphic, informative and mind blowing, this most insane UFO documentary is a wide sweep across the entire modern UFO and UAP question, from the sightings that will not go away to the secret United States government programs that spent decades studying them while telling the public there was nothing to study. It is dense, fast moving and unapologetically maximalist, and it covers more ground in one sitting than most viewers assemble in years of reading.

What the film actually puts on screen

The structure is accumulation rather than argument. Case after case, document after document, witness after witness, the film piles up material until the sheer volume becomes the point. Military encounters sit next to declassified paperwork, which sits next to testimony from people who held clearances, which sits next to the visual record that has been building since gun camera footage first started leaking into public view.

That approach has an obvious weakness and a real strength. The weakness is that strong cases and weak cases get equal screen time. The strength is that anyone who has only ever seen one or two famous incidents discovers how large the underlying body of material actually is, and how much of it comes from sources that have nothing to gain from inventing it.

The government programs at the center of it

The most substantial portion of this UFO documentary concerns the official side. For years the public position was that the subject had been closed decades earlier and that nothing of intelligence value remained. That position did not survive contact with the record. Reporting in 2017 exposed a Pentagon effort that had been studying anomalous aerial encounters, and the admission opened a door that has not closed since.

What followed is now a matter of public documentation. The Navy confirmed that widely circulated cockpit videos were authentic and unexplained. A 2021 intelligence assessment delivered to Congress examined well over a hundred incidents and could account for almost none of them. Congressional hearings followed, an office was established inside the Department of Defense to collect and analyze reports, and testimony given under oath has included the claim that the government holds materials and craft of non human origin. That claim remains unverified and officially denied, and the film treats it as the open question it is.

The witnesses and the footage

The strongest material is the testimony from people whose careers argue against fabrication. Naval aviators who tracked objects on multiple independent sensor systems at the same time, radar operators who watched targets behave in ways no known aircraft can, missile officers who reported systems going offline during overflights. These are people with security clearances, pensions and reputations, and in most cases they stayed silent for decades before speaking.

The footage sits in the same category. What makes the best of it interesting is not that it looks dramatic, because much of it does not. It is that the objects were simultaneously registered by radar, by infrared imaging and by human eyes, which is the combination that rules out the easy explanations of camera artifacts and misperception.

Where to keep your skepticism sharp

A film built on volume needs a viewer willing to sort. Some of the cases presented here have conventional explanations that are perfectly adequate. Balloons, drones, satellite reentries, parallax effects and sensor artifacts account for the large majority of reported sightings, and researchers working on the subject seriously are the first to say so. The interesting residue is small.

The honest position is that the residue is real and unexplained, not that the explanation is already known. Unidentified means unidentified. The film occasionally slides toward filling that gap with certainty it has not earned, and the viewer who notices where that happens will get far more out of the material than the one who swallows it whole.

Why it is worth the watch

Watch this one as an inventory rather than a verdict. It gathers in a single place the cases, the documents and the program history that a newcomer would otherwise spend a long time hunting down, and it does it with enough momentum to hold attention throughout.
