The Deep State Map, also known as the Q-WEB or Q Map, is a visual information map created by artist and researcher Dylan Louis Monroe, founder of the Deep State Mapping Project. Rather than an article, timeline, or documentary, it is an enormous interconnected network of names, dates, organizations, historical events, government programs, belief systems, technologies, secret societies, political movements, and alternative theories.
According to Monroe, he began the map after encountering QAnon posts on 4chan in November 2017. The project expanded far beyond that material into a much broader attempt to visually organize what Monroe describes as humanity's "hidden history," from ancient civilizations and religious traditions to intelligence agencies, military programs, and alternative research topics of the modern era.
The most useful way to approach it: don't think of it as a book to read from beginning to end. Think of it as an enormous visual research index. Pick a subject. Follow an arrow. Research the names. Check the dates. Investigate the sources. Then return to the map and continue.
Monroe himself emphasizes that the map mixes established historical material with theories and encourages viewers to investigate individual subjects and determine their validity independently. How to Read the Deep State Map
At first glance the Q-WEB can be overwhelming. It is fundamentally organized around chronology, categories, keywords, and connections. Start with the timeline, then treat every entry as a search term.

Start With the Central Timeline
The timeline running through the map is its most important structural element. Dylan explains that the central portion broadly separates material between Technology / Spirituality on the left and War / Violence on the right. From there, subjects branch outward into increasingly large networks. Choose a section that interests you and begin following its connections.

Treat Every Entry as a Research Keyword
According to Dylan, the terms on the map were deliberately chosen to function as searchable keywords. Rather than accepting a connection as displayed, take the names at either end and research them independently.
Method Subject A → Subject B. Search both together, then investigate the people, dates, organizations, documents, and records surrounding the relationship. This turns the map from something you look at into something you navigate. -

Understand What the Arrows Mean
An arrow represents a connection Dylan considers noteworthy between the subjects at its endpoints. Subjects placed next to one another may also be related even without an arrow. Not every possible relationship can be drawn; with hundreds of topics, that would make the map unreadable. It functions as a visual network of research topics, not a conventional flowchart.

Distinguish the Kinds of Material
When researching a connection, compare multiple sources and distinguish between primary documentation, historical records, secondary reporting, interpretation, and speculation. The map intentionally places these different types of material in the same visual network.

Dylan later developed a color-coded Q-KEY, described as a chronological cartography, that organizes the map's hundreds of subjects into nine broad research areas. The categories do not mean every entry carries the same level of documentation.

The map becomes far more useful when treated as a research tool rather than an image. Work one branch at a time instead of trying to understand hundreds of subjects at once.
Choose One Term
Pick a single subject that interests you and follow the arrows connected to it.
Write Down the Unfamiliar
Names, organizations, events, programs, and dates you don't recognize become your search list.
Search Independently
Look for original documents and primary historical sources whenever possible, then compare multiple sources.
Sort Fact from Speculation
Determine which aspects are documented, which are interpretations, and which remain speculative or disputed. Then return to the map.
Is everything on the Deep State Map proven? No. Treat it as a starting point for research, not the final source for every claim appearing on it.

Dylan Louis Monroe is an American artist and the creator of the Deep State Mapping Project. Before the project, he studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York and worked with fashion houses including Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss, Derek Lam, and Coach. According to his official biography, he shifted toward fine art around 2014 and began the Deep State Mapping Project in 2017.
