Few passages in scripture have drawn as much sustained attention as the closing chapter of Daniel, and this Daniel 12 documentary makes an ambitious claim about it. The film argues that three separate prophetic timelines, each derived independently from the biblical text and each anchored to identifiable historical events, converge on a single year, and that the year is 2026. Whether a viewer accepts that conclusion or not, the film is a substantial piece of work and it deserves to be engaged with on its own terms, which includes being clear about where its reasoning is strong and where it is doing something the tradition has attempted many times before.

The Chapter The Film Is Built On

Daniel 12 is short, strange and strikingly specific. It opens with Michael standing up and a time of trouble unlike any before it. It speaks of a resurrection, of some awaking to everlasting life and others to shame. It describes the wise shining like the brightness of the firmament. And then it does something unusual for a prophetic text. It gives numbers.

Daniel is told to shut up the words and seal the book until the time of the end, with the accompanying statement that many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased. That instruction is the hinge on which the film’s entire title turns. If the passage was deliberately sealed until an appointed period, then the natural question is whether the seal has now been lifted, and the film answers in the affirmative.

What This Daniel 12 Documentary Claims

The structure is a case built three times over. The film presents three lines of prophetic reckoning, each developed from a different portion of Daniel and from related passages, each tied to a starting point in documented history, and each running forward to terminate in the same year. The persuasive force is meant to come from the independence of the three. Any single calculation could be arranged to produce a desired result. Three calculations arriving at the same destination by different routes is a much harder thing to dismiss as coincidence, and that is the argument the film is making.

Alongside the arithmetic it assembles a case from current events, reading contemporary geopolitical, technological and religious developments as the conditions the chapter describes. The phrase about knowledge increasing and many running to and fro gets particular attention, applied to an era of instantaneous global communication and accelerating information.

The Numbers Behind The Timelines

Understanding the method helps, because it is not arbitrary. Daniel supplies several specific figures across its chapters. The final chapter gives a time, times and half a time, along with a period of 1,290 days and a further period of 1,335 days, with a blessing pronounced on whoever reaches the end of the longer count. Elsewhere the book supplies 2,300 evenings and mornings, and the seventy weeks of the ninth chapter.

The interpretive move that converts these into centuries is the day for a year principle, in which a prophetic day is read as a calendar year. This approach has a long history within the historicist school of interpretation and it is how a figure of 1,260 days becomes 1,260 years. Everything then depends on the starting point chosen for each count, because the terminal date is only as sound as the historical event the count is anchored to. The film selects its anchors and defends them, and viewers evaluating the argument should concentrate their attention precisely there.

The Case Against Date Setting

The Great Awakening Report presents this film as part of the Forbidden History and prophecy material, and presenting it does not mean endorsing its conclusion. The counterargument is substantial and it comes principally from scripture itself.

The clearest objection is the statement in Matthew that no one knows the day or the hour, neither the angels of heaven, and the related instruction in Acts that it is not for the disciples to know the times or the seasons the Father has placed in his own authority. Interpreters who read these texts strictly regard any attempt to fix a year as departing from a direct prohibition.

The second objection is historical and it is simply the record. Date setting has a long and unbroken history of failure. The most thoroughly documented example is the Millerite expectation of 1844, calculated from these very passages in Daniel using this very method, which ended in what became known as the Great Disappointment. That episode is a cautionary precedent for exactly this kind of arithmetic, and it is worth holding in mind throughout.

There is also a broader scholarly position which reads Daniel’s numbers as referring to events in the second century BC rather than to any distant future, and a futurist position which places them in a compressed period still to come rather than across millennia. Three serious interpretive traditions read the same numbers in three different ways.

Why It Is Worth Watching

Watch it to understand the argument rather than to receive a verdict. The film is carefully assembled, it works directly from the text, and it will teach you more about how prophetic chronology is actually constructed than most treatments of the subject ever attempt. Hold the date loosely and the study underneath it still has real value. A year will arrive and either confirm the thesis or not, and the discipline of watching without anxiety is the posture the chapter itself seems to commend.
