What is the Lion’s Gate?
Those familiar with astrology or numerology have a special relationship with August 8th (08-08), and this year it’s heightened.
In numerology, the number 8 can symbolize completion in terms of balance and harmony in the divine manifestation on the physical plane, what we understand as the infinity symbol.
In astrology, the Sun is in Leo, represented by the image of the Lion. When the Sun is in Leo, it is “home,” in its natal house, which is analogous with someone being in their own element. August 8th every year is when the Earth aligns to the Dog Star, Sirius, and the Galactic Centre of the Milky Way.
Sirius is the brightest star in the sky. Its rising held sacredness and importance in many ancient civilizations on Earth, as it was once considered the spiritual sun. In ancient Egypt, its rising coincided with the annual flooding of the Nile, regenerating the soil for another year of farming. In India, even today, a series of festivals honouring the Goddess in their many forms commence at this time.
August 8th is called the Lion’s Gate because the astrological alignments often feel like a doorway or portal to a higher plane of ascension.
The Egyptian Pyramids of Giza were constructed in alignment with Sirius and the constellation Orion, and the engineering of the time intended to ground the tremendous energy available to the planet when the Lion’s Gate opened annually.
While the date of August 8th is highly celebrated, the energy of the Lion’s Gate lasts for a few days before and stays on for a few days after. The language of the Universe is not force, after all. The days around August 8th allow us to move past any urgency our minds may create and give us space and time to unfurl in the ways we are ready to.
Suggestions and Options
While this opening of doorways is incredibly exciting to know, there exists tremendous chaos in our physical realities today. It is, as always, the suggestion of us at the Great Awakening Report to take a few deep breathes and take some time on or close to August 8th to return home to the Self.
If possible, indulge in enriching grounding, prayer, or meditation practices, and nurture yourself in whichever ways you require. It may help to keep the day light of commitments so that more universal abundance that is now available to us can flow through.
Leo energy is about self-expression, play, and power, so it is sometimes helpful to contemplate and be open to seeing and feeling how that exists in your life and if that aligns with our inner truths and desires.
As it is a heightened time in our galaxy, for those interested in opening to the wisdom of beings beyond our world, there are several CE-5 (close encounter of the fifth kind) events worldwide scheduled over the next few weeks.
The Universe is not a boring place. This is demonstrated to us by the closing of the Lion’s Gate, celebrated by the Perseids meteor shower. If you are blessed with clear skies away from city lights and a warm blanket, the night sky from August 11th – 13th rains diamonds. It is a beautiful practice of wonderment and humility.
